Our Story: “ The Saga of Two Roommates Who Sparked a Revolution in Research Technology”
Together, they started VARG IMPEX LLP, focused on offering procurement services for government research institutes. Breaking into this market was tough; the requirements were stringent, and potential clients set the bar high for newcomers. Yet their dedication to quality and consistent service gradually helped them build trust. Over time, small orders led to bigger opportunities, giving them a deeper understanding of what research institutes genuinely needed.
As the year went on, they asked themselves a pivotal question: “What if we designed our own solutions?” By now, they knew the challenges researchers were facing—and they saw the potential for building custom-engineered products that could boost efficiency and accuracy. This vision gave rise to Codratech Private Limited, a specialized arm that would develop indigenous technology tailored for research labs. While VARG IMPEX continued to handle procurement, Codratech forged ahead in designing and manufacturing bespoke systems for government institutes.
In 2021, as the pandemic was winding down and the world was slowly returning to its routines, two former college roommates—Omkesh and Chetan—sat in a modest coffee shop. They were there not just to catch up, but to chart a path that would rekindle the excitement they’d once felt as engineering students. Both were electrical engineers with government-issued supervisory licenses, and each had carved out distinct career paths that honed their expertise.
Chetan, who had completed his M.Tech in Electrical Engineering, had become skilled in programming, product development, procurement, and vendor management. He had a knack for turning abstract technical ideas into real-world solutions. Omkesh had built his experience in the automobile industry, working as an M3 Manager at Belrise Industries in Chakan, where he oversaw manufacturing operations. Along the way, he had also earned an LL.B, gaining valuable insights into law, business management, and finance.
Despite their corporate achievements, they felt a growing restlessness. Memories of late-night brainstorming sessions in college—when every obstacle seemed like an exciting challenge—lingered. They wanted to rediscover that spark and use their abilities to make a lasting impact.
From that humble coffee shop meeting to the bustling workdays of today, Omkesh and Chetan have stayed true to their mission: to empower Indian research. Their experiences in engineering, automobile manufacturing, programming, law, and finance all converge in a single purpose—providing homegrown solutions that set new standards. They believe Indian researchers deserve top-quality tools designed and built right here in India, and that such innovations can help the country make a global mark in science and technology.
